Project Training Event Organized by our University
A Training Event on “Tübitak Research Project Preparation and Implementation for Multidisciplinary and Industrial Production in the Field of Engineering" was organized by our university.
Our University Rector Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Göktaş, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet YILMAZ, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Ebru AKPINAR, General Manager of Teknokent Prof. Dr. Erhan AKIN, Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. Mehmet KARAKÖSE, project trainers and academicians participated in the event.
Making a speech at the event, Prof. Dr. Ebru AKPINAR, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, emphasized the importance of writing a project. Akpınar said, “You should benefit from these trainings because doing projects will contribute to yourself, your faculty and your university. Here, of course, the problem is industrial, industry-oriented, which is a good approach. After all, we need a problem to prepare a project. The problem here is industry-oriented, which will increase the functionality and effect of the project even more. Consequently, a solution to a problem in the industry will be found. Engineering means interdisciplinary work, so it is necessary to write an interdisciplinary project, and the distribution of tasks for everyone has to be determined. That's why, interdisciplinary projects always become more effective.”
Stating that YÖK divides universities into two groups, our University Rector Prof. Dr. Fahrettin GÖKTAŞ emphasized that universities compete against one another within these groups. Rector Prof. Dr. Fahrettin GÖKTAŞ stated that one of the most important steps of being a research university is to do a project and said, “I would like to talk about two points: First of all, YÖK divides universities into various groups. The most important groups are research universities. Thematic and Regional Development Universities. And YÖK makes universities compete against each other within these groups. The world ranking of universities has been announced. Istanbul University is in the top 500, but when you think of it in general, it is actually among the first thousand of all universities registered as research universities by YÖK. This means that this evaluation made by YÖK is also validated by the world university rankings. In other words, YÖK actually manages this process in a good way. One of the most important steps of being a research university is to do projects. For me, engineering means producing projects. It means contributing to production in the industry. So this is a very important issue."
A Training Event on “Tübitak Research Project Preparation and Implementation for Multidisciplinary and Industrial Production” supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2237-B program will last for three days.
